Yavuz Ekinci

Yavuz Ekinci is a Kurdish-Turkish novelist and short story writer whose works explore memory, loss, and the silences of history. He debuted with the short story collection Meyaser’in Uçuşu (2004) and gained wider recognition with Tene Yazılan Ayetler (2010), a novel set in Diyarbakır that examined intersecting lives shaped by trauma. His subsequent works, including Cennetin Kayıp Toprakları (2012), Rüyası Bölünenler (2014), Günün Birinde (2016), and Peygamberin Endişesi (2018), address themes of exile, belief, and identity, often confronting Türkiye’s suppressed histories.

Translated into multiple languages and adapted for stage and screen, Ekinci’s fiction combines lyrical prose with unflinching social insight, giving voice to Kurdish experiences while engaging universal questions of violence, resilience, and belonging.
