Expanding Horizons: İntrotema at the Turkic World Publishing Congress 2026
At the official invitation of the organizers, İntrotema Literary Agency took part in the Turkic World Publishing Congress, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye from 27 to 29 March 2026. Bringing together 140 publishers from 10 countries, the congress marked an important step forward for international rights cooperation across the Turkic world.
Our agency was represented by Co-Founder Dr. Muhammed Ağırakça, Agency Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akif Pamuk and Azerbaijan Representative Khayala Mammadli. After a month of internal preparation and a comprehensive preliminary report submitted to the secretariat, our team brought structured, strategic input to the commission tables in a series of result-oriented meetings.
Discussions covered key initiatives, including the establishment of a Turkic World Translation Fund, joint book and rights fairs, and a planned Union of Turkic World Publishers. Data shared at the congress showed that the TEDA Program has supported the translation of 368 titles across 81 countries over the last 20 years.
Over the past eight years, İntrotema has licensed the rights to 1,119 titles to 97 publishing houses across 5 Turkic countries, while bringing more than 50 titles from the Turkic world to readers internationally. These figures show how the region is growing from a shared cultural space into a strategic part of the global publishing industry.
