Navigating the Digital Wave: İntrotema’s Strategic Engagements at the Beijing International Book Fair 2026

Reinforcing its cross-border rights network and commitment to global licensing innovation, İntrotema Literary Agency successfully concluded its strategic mission at the prestigious Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), held from June 17 to 22, 2026. Attending as an active member of the Silk Road Publishers Club—with the invaluable institutional support of the Lifetree Culture Promotion Center—our team unlocked unparalleled avenues to interface with leading publishers from China and across the globe.

Through a fast-paced schedule of curated matchmaking events and intensive booth visits, we consolidated ties with long-standing industry allies while establishing collaborative foundations with brand-new publishing houses. The fair provided a definitive vantage point to closely observe China’s publishing universe, particularly the inevitable and rapid structural impacts of the digital age on content consumption patterns.

A primary insight from our mission was witnessing how seamlessly Chinese readers and publishers are managing and adapting to an accelerated transition from traditional print to digital mediums. Exploring a massive exhibition hall entirely dedicated to pioneering brands in audiobooks, e-books, web novels, and webtoons, our team spearheaded highly productive licensing discussions. This vast multi-media ecosystem yielded incredible cross-market strategies beneficial for both our Literary Agency operations and our specialized Studios division, opening up fresh workflows for transmedia adaptations.

Beyond localized market scouting, İntrotema engaged deeply with core industry thought leaders during high-level professional panels. We participated in intensive sessions led by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) board members focusing on the sweeping implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern publishing. Gaining comparative insights from publishers across Malaysia, China, and the United States provided a macro view of international AI policy. Furthermore, it was a profound privilege to attend the reflections of Hans Christian Andersen Award-winning authors Cao Wenxuan and Cai Gao, who shared their masterly philosophies on maintaining artistic integrity amidst technological disruption.

While the physical footprint of the Beijing Fair reflected recent market adjustments—appearing notably downsized compared to previous iterations due to lower print retail trends and rapid digitalization—the overarching atmosphere remained resilient. The heavy influx of international professionals combined with an overwhelming public turnout over the weekend served as a powerful reminder that the heart of global publishing is transforming, not fading. For İntrotema, the relationships forged and digital horizons discovered at BIBF 2026 stand as clear proof that there remains an immense world of narratives left to share, adapt, and build together.

By aligning with forward-looking entities like the Silk Road Publishers Club and assessing the intersections of AI and transmedia storytelling, İntrotema continues to position itself at the leading edge of global rights evolution.
