Ziauddin Sardar
Ziauddin Sardar is a British-Pakistani scholar, writer, and cultural critic best known for his work on Islam, science, and cultural futures. Educated in London, he began his career teaching at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah before returning to the UK as a journalist for Nature and New Scientist. He later co-founded Inquiry magazine and held academic posts in London and Chicago, focusing on postcolonial studies and futurology.
Author of more than sixty books, including The Future of Muslim Civilisation (1979) and Mecca: The Sacred City (2014), Sardar has also presented acclaimed BBC and Channel 4 documentaries. In 2012, he launched the journal Critical Muslim and founded the Centre for Postnormal Policy and Futures Studies, cementing his role as a leading voice on Islam, modernity, and pluralism.
