The Red Cape

Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu

"What is written in our minds in time, writes our destiny later..."

A girl in a red cape enters through the open door. She looks as if she has just torn herself away from a film or a fairy tale. Just as the morning call to prayer echoes and the day has not yet fully broken, a shiver runs through the room. She spins in the center of the office, eyes closed, her cape billowing around her.

Why would someone wear such a cape and a tulle hat to a psychiatric clinic? There must be a meaning. Soon, the pain pours out of her mouth like thin threads. This is the story of a girl who has experienced the greatest of pains, fears, loves, hopes, and despairs.

The Red Cape narrates the shadow cast by childhood abuse, years spent in profound loneliness, and new doors opening just when all seemed lost. It is a touching life story full of adventure—and at its heart, a very innocent love story.
