Zaure Turekhanova
Zaure Turekhanova (born August 14, 1984, in Almaty, Kazakhstan) is a prominent Kazakh children’s author and screenwriter. She began writing short stories and essays at a young age, played the dombra, recited poetry, and appeared in radio and television programs during her school years. Following her family’s advice, she studied economics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and completed a master’s degree in finance.
In 2013, Turekhanova left the finance sector to focus on children’s literature. Her works often emphasize love for the homeland, respect for knowledge, and the value of elders, aiming to nurture reading habits among Kazakh children. She has become an important voice in contemporary Kazakh children’s literature.
