Archil Kikodze

Archil Kikodze is a Georgian writer, professional photographer, ethnographer, and wildlife tracking guide. Born in Tbilisi in 1972, he studied Oriental Studies and Film, later starring in the award-winning film Blind Dates (2013). Beginning his literary career at twenty-one, he has published four short story collections and a volume of essays. His collection The Story of a Bird and a Man won the Saba Prize for Best Short Stories in 2014, while his debut novel The Southern Elephant became a defining text of contemporary Georgian literature.

Deeply connected to the Caucasus, Archil’s work celebrates Georgia’s landscapes, culture, and traditions. His award-winning photography has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and his articles on environmental and social themes have appeared in leading Georgian magazines. He is also the author of three guidebooks promoting science tourism in Georgia, including titles on Khevi, Svaneti, and Bakuriani. Additionally, commissioned by Georgia’s Ministry of Environment, he authored books on Kolkheti, Tusheti, Vashlovani National Parks, and Lagodekhi Reserve.
