War
Archil KikodzeIn a society where the connecting threads have snapped and war is invisible yet omnipresent, can eternal values survive the "evil of the day"?
Archil Kikodze’s novel War (ომი) centers on a former politician—the "Deputy"—who, despite leaving his party, remains a prisoner of his own self. Through intensive dialogues with two distinct archetypes, the "Bandit" and the "Writer," the narrative dissects the country's recent history, global conflicts, and a profound crisis of humanism. As critic Zaal Andronikashvili notes, the novel features no traditional heroes, only three masks reminiscent of Commedia dell'arte. It is a mosaic of tragedy and comedy, where realism blends with the grotesque to question whether truth can survive in a world where everyone is against everyone.
