Daniel Glattauer

Daniel Glattauer is an Austrian writer and former journalist, born in Vienna in 1960, best known for his sharp wit and keen insight into human relationships. He studied pedagogy and art history before beginning a long journalism career, most notably as a columnist for Der Standard. His background in court reporting and feuilleton writing strongly shaped his observational, dialogue-driven literary style.

Glattauer gained international recognition with the epistolary novels Love Virtually and its sequel Every Seventh Wave, which explore modern communication and emotional complexity. His books have been translated into 40 languages, sold over 3 million copies worldwide, and inspired numerous adaptations for theater, radio, television, and film.
