Adalet Ağaoğlu
Adalet Ağaoğlu was one of the most influential literary figures of modern Türkiye, known primarily for her novels as well as her contributions to short stories, plays, essays, and memoir. Her work consistently examined the sociopolitical transformations of Türkiye and their impact on individual lives. This exploration began with her debut novel Ölmeye Yatmak and continued through all her major literary works. Each publication sparked vital discourse, shaping both literary and intellectual life in the country.
Ağaoğlu graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History and Geography in 1950, following her secondary education at Ankara Girls' High School. In recognition of her pioneering contributions to Turkish literature, particularly in the novel form, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by Boğaziçi University in 2018.
